There are approximately 2 million people in the UK who do not have internet, 60 million in Europe and 4 billion around the world. These are people who remain unconnected for healthcare, education and financial services, according to the UN.

These numbers are almost unbelievable, however, many do not live in well-connected cities or towns where the current infrastructure can reach.

The need to provide low cost rural connectivity is huge. The challenge is to reduce economic, social and technical disparities between rural and urban areas and has even been recognised by the Queen in a recent speech delivered to Parliament.

Skynet Global is a new type of internet system and service which requires minimal infrastructure, unlike the broadband and fibre optic services of today. Skynet Global can now take the internet to areas without connectivity in developed countries and also to rural areas in some developing countries which so desperately need it.
